The Power of Decrees
Living in Victory
You've Been Decreed Victorious! (And That Changes Everything)
Sometimes life comes at you from all sides, and it’s easy to feel powerless against a constant bombardment of challenges. But as I’ve learned more about the power of God’s divine decrees, I’m comforted to know that these are living and active principles that have transformed my understanding of who I am and what I’m capable of in Christ Jesus.
Do you want to know more about how this truth is such a game changer for the body of Christ?
Decrees: They're Not Just a Suggestion
Think about the movies you’ve seen with kings and kingdoms. Movies like Gladiator or Mulan – when a king, emperor, or ruler made a decree, it wasn't just a suggestion, it was the law! It was absolute, unchanging, and everyone had to follow it - exactly as stated, without fail!
God made some decrees, too. In fact, creation began with a decree!
God said, "Let there be light!" and boom—there was light! In Genesis 1:26, God decreed, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion.” This divine mandate gave mankind authority over all creation, and it’s the kind of power we’re still living under today!
The First Decree: Oops!
In the garden, Adam and Eve were given a choice – a demonstration of true love, which always allows freedom. They chose wrongly, and suddenly, sin and death entered the world. The consequences of that choice have echoed throughout history.
But here's the good news: God had a plan. Just as there was a first decree that seemed to doom humanity, there’s a second decree that changed everything.
The Second Decree: Jesus Our Savior
Are you familiar with the story of Esther? An evil decree was given to wipe out all the Jews. It seemed like all hope was lost. But then, a second decree came out, giving the Jews “authority to unite and defend themselves, to destroy, kill, and annihilate any armed force that might attack them, and to plunder the property of their enemies.” (Esther 8:11)
This story is a picture of what Jesus did for you! He came to rescue you from that first "death sentence" decree in the Garden of Eden. Through His death and resurrection, He issued a final decree—a decree of forgiveness, restoration, and unstoppable victory for everyone who believes!
You're Not Prey
1 Peter 5:8 tells us to be alert because our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. But notice the wording – “looking for someone he may devour.” This means there are those he MAY NOT devour.
You're not prey anymore; you're a child of God, an heir to His kingdom! So, when the enemy attacks your family, your finances, your health – you have the authority to stand and fight back in faith!
"It Is Finished!" and "He Is Risen!"
These aren't just nice sayings—they're decrees that changed the course of history. When Jesus said, "It is finished!" on the cross, He declared your freedom from sin and death. And three days later, heaven decreed, “He is risen!” These aren’t just historical events – they’re ongoing spiritual realities, sealing your victory forever.
Living Like Royalty
So, what does this mean for your everyday life? You're meant to reign in life! You're called to live in victory, experiencing the fullness of God's blessings and sharing His love with the world.
Don't Just Exist—Reign!
This isn't about positive thinking or pretending everything is perfect. It's about aligning your heart and mind with the truth of who God says you are. It's about choosing to live in the victory Jesus won for you.
Remember:
So, what will you choose? Will you settle for a life of defeat, or will you rise up and reign in life through Christ?
