Live the Mission and Expect God to Move

Live the Mission and Expect God to Move
Jesus’ final words weren’t a suggestion. They were a commission — a call that still reaches across time and space into every believer’s heart: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.” – Mark 16:15 (NLT)

But that mission doesn’t start on a plane. It starts on your street, in your home, in your workplace, and in the relationships God has placed around you.

“Go into all the world” isn’t just a quotable verse — it’s how you should strive to live.

Miracles Follow Faith
It’s tempting to chase the spectacular — to look for miracles as proof that God is at work. But God’s power always follows faith, so if signs and wonders become the focus, faith becomes unbalanced.

Jesus warned us in Matthew 24 that false prophets would use “great signs and wonders” to deceive — even believers. The church must be able to discern what is from the Lord and what is meant to deceive. How do you recognize what is true?

Jesus gave us the key when He said, “You will know them by their fruit.” (Matthew 7:16)

Despite miraculous manifestations or giftings, what fruit is their life producing? A Spirit-led life produces love, peace, and a desire to serve — always pointing back to Jesus.

When the Message Gets Distorted
But when believers chase experiences instead of intimacy with God, both the message and the messenger get distorted.

You’ve probably seen it before — a pastor who treats his opinion like Scripture, or a leader who seems more interested in being served than serving others. It’s confusing, right? You see God using them, but something feels off.

That’s exactly why Paul warned about those who “have a form of godliness but deny its power.” (2 Tim. 3:5) And why Jesus said there would be plenty of signs in the last days — but not every sign would point back to Him.

Because true spiritual power doesn’t make someone bigger; it makes Jesus bigger.

Power to Be His Witness
When we understand that, we see the purpose of the Holy Spirit: to empower us to be witnesses, not performers. (Acts 1:8)

That promise didn’t end with the disciples. Acts 2:39 says, “This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away — all who have been called by the Lord our God.”

The Holy Spirit equips you to represent Jesus wherever you go:
  • In your home
  • In your workplace and community
  • In your city and around the world

That’s what it means to live the mission - to carry the presence and power of God into every sphere of life.

Love Is the Proof
Jesus said the world would know His disciples not by miracles — but by love. (John 13:35) Love is the mark of spiritual maturity. It’s the fruit that proves the root.

When we love one another, God’s presence becomes visible. “If we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us.” (1 John 4:12)

Every act of love, every word of truth, every faithful step you take into your world is part of God’s mission. When you live this way, you’re not just waiting for God to move — you’re partnering with Him.

So live it boldly.

Represent Jesus faithfully.

And expect God to move powerfully through you.
